House of Fraser is a well-established British department store group, with a mixture of city centre and out-of-town locations, and an important repeat client of Blue Mount.
We were therefore honoured when House of Fraser asked us to design the windows for their 2018 Chinese New Year display in their nine stores across the UK and Ireland that see the highest tourist footfall.
Given the European locations, we created an East meets West design using traditional Asian colours. Celebrating the Year of the Dog, the window featured three different breeds, a Chow Chow, a Great Dane and a Dalmatian, all created life-sized and all attentively gazing at an imposing gold, Chinese arch.
The style of arch chosen was one traditionally seen in the North-East of China and was set in a rich backdrop of peach blossoms and peonies. Using a small colour palette of red, pink, orange and gold, the over-sized, hand-crafted 3D paper flowers created the sense of being in a luxury Chinese garden. Mass paper lanterns hung over a sea of fairy lights displayed under canopies to complete the sense of a warm, romantic and festive New Year.
