With the theme was “Fashion in the Park”. The Raffles City Shenzhen occupies an entire city block along with one of the largest green gardens in the district. Our storyline featured the life cycle of a butterfly; with six artworks showcased around the property inspired by different stages in the butterfly’s life cycle. We used an iridescent colour palette of translucent materials, incorporating light touches of circuit-board patterns, to infuse the artworks with a sense of technology mixed with nature, a representation of the new development’s blending of modernity with integration into the surrounding community.
Blue Mount’s work for the grand opening of Shenzhen’s most exciting new retail space, Raffles City, had a long lead-up. We began our collaboration as far back as the end of 2015 when we petitioned for local artist Yang Guang to showcase his artwork in the new development. In October 2016, we were again invited to tender for the VM spectacular to accompany the April 2017 grand opening. With the assistance of Yang Guang, who developed the display concept alongside us, we were chosen to provide the work.
