Ted Baker is known for its light-hearted, fun style and quirky, humorous window displays. Having had the pleasure to work with the company on its Chinese New Year windows for the Year of the Ram, Monkey and Rooster, we were honoured to be asked to design their Chinese New Year window again for 2018.
The brand has long featured a French Bulldog in its prints and merchandise, a sort-of unofficial mascot that is a quirky take on the traditional British Bulldog, so we didn’t have to go far to find iconic canine representations for the new display.
Inspired by the florals of the season, Ted Baker’s designers had created a spring repeat-print of blush-toned peach blossoms. We recreated this for the window in 3D form with metal tree branches finished in gold paint and large flowers hand-crafted out of waxy pink papers.
Each window featured a pack of cuddly baby French Bulldogs with 3D-printed noses for a touch of humour that merged 2D and 3D effects. One of the dogs was perched on a gold toy ball while Blue Mount manufactured custom-build doghouse display props showcased the season’s accessories.
